About the PTFA

St John's PTFA plays an important role in maximizing the educational experience of our children.  You can get more involved with the school community and help enrich the lives of our children - and have fun too.

The parents and carers are responsible for raising thousands of pounds from activities and events each year - this money is spent on improving facilities and providing much-needed resources. You don't have to be on the committee to get involved – if you have a child at St John’s you are already a member so any support you can offer will be welcome, so join in and discover what exciting plans are coming up and how you can make a difference.

Our key objectives are to firstly, to cultivate relationships between school staff, parents and the wider community; and secondly, to provide resources or experiences which enhance the experience of the children at St John’s.

Everyone has a valuable contribution to make - big or small.  The secret to our success is you.  We are very fortunate at our school to have a PTFA that is and has been an integral part of the school community for many years.  In our time we have raised thousands of pounds, which has been spent on improving equipment and resources to enhance our kid's school experience - currently the PTFA has been involved in starting the library and raising funds to improve the playground.

But our PTFA is so much more than just fundraising.  The PTFA exists to provide closer links between home and school, and it is an excellent way to bring staff, parents and friends together socially in support of the school, working towards a common goal.  It is fun too - just ask the many parents who have attended or helped out at events such as the quiz night or summer fair.  Obviously as any organization, there are times when it is more challenging but with continued support of you and other parents and staff our PTFA has and will succeed in our efforts.

All parents and members of the school community can get involved if they want to - even if they only have a small amount of time available to give.  All parents are automatically members of the PTFA when their child joins our school so there is nothing to join - you already are part of the PTFA.

The PTFA is extremely conscious of the ethos and morals of our school and we try very hard when organising and planning events and working together to respect this.  Not all of our events are run as fundraisers - for example our parent social and school disco are organised with the aim of providing the opportunity to meet other families, have fun and a way of thanking families for their continues support.
